My General Details

- Mildly updated 15 May 2020 -

Name:

Call me Tim, and mine's a lager / beer / vodka / cider, most alcohol really but rarely sherry; that only belongs in a trifle.

Tim Harris

Birthplace:

Earth, third planet from the Sun, quite nice in places

Height: Just right
Weight: Over
Immediate Family:

My mother Doreen Lillian Harris (nee Hook) who popped off in 1997 (aged 60). My father, Anthony Colin Harris (preferred to be called Colin) who went to the betting shop in the sky December 2012 (aged 76).

Three brothers, Gary, Andrew, Lauran. Good guys, all of them, I've got used to them by now. One sister, Carmelle. She is a brilliant and flawless person, although as I'm allowing her to edit this, she'll probably alter my comments.

Brother Gary and wife Debbie have two daughters, Megan and Eleanor. Brother Andrew and ex-wife Caroline have two sons, James and Ben. Lauran is engaged to Emma.

My last cat was named Charlie, got him in 1999, when he was about 8 weeks old. He sadly passed on 13th June 2017. See the Pets page.

I also have many uncles, aunts, cousins. Bloody hundreds in fact.

When I grow up I want to be: An author. Never done it. Written loads, thrown most of it out.

I also dreamed of owning my own TV station: it would have been named HRVT (Harris Regional Vision Tele). I've used HRVT as a name in other ways since, i.e. edited DVD videos and associated DVD covers, plus the site domain hrvt.org that I've had for some time.

Work / Occupation: Currently in-between 32-year careers and enjoying the rest. I've been able to catch up on many unfinished projects as a result.
Hobbies: Video filming (holiday DVDs and amateur films), design work (DVD covers, brochures, cards, postcards, pictures, etc, etc), drinking in my favourite pubs, oh, all sorts of things.
Interested in: Women. Fascinating creatures. Don't want to marry one though, far too young, maybe when I'm in my eighties.
Countries/Places Been To: Majorca: Cala Bona, Cala Millor, Son Servera, Sa Coma, S'illot, Porto Cristo, Palma, Arta, Port de Pollenca,  Alcudia, Port Colom

Bulgaria: Pamporovo

Cyprus: Paphos

France: Bolougne, Paris, Nice, Monaco, Cannes

Hungary: Budapest

Italy: Venice

The Netherlands: Amsterdam

Spain: Barcelona

USA: Florida, Manhattan, New York, Philadelphia

Favourite Places In The Universe:

Majorca/Cala Bona    Portmeirion, Wales    Manhattan, New York

Longleat (Warminster)

Schools attended: Barton Infants (1970 - 1973)

Barton Juniors (1973 - 1976)

Bayswater Middle School (1976 - 1979)

Cheney Upper School (1979 - 1985)

(See my School Reports page).

Qualifications: "A" Levels: Economics Grade D (failed History & dropped out of Geography 'cos it was boring).

"O" Levels: English Language Grade B, Art Grade C (should have been a "B")

"CEE/CSE" Level: Design Graphics, Maths, Economics, Geography Grade 1, English Literature & French Grade 2 (dropped out of Science 'cos I had little or no interest).

Skills: I'm widely unskilled in most areas, you name it, I probably can't do it, but I do know how to Google those who can. I'm reasonably good at pressing buttons on computers and getting them to do the things they should, mostly.

Favourite TV Programmes: Doctor Who, past and present, The Prisoner, The Avengers
Favourite Films: The Godfather, Melody, The Wizard of Oz
Favourite Publication:

No not that one, Doctor Who Magazine. I've been buying this since it began in 1979 and even had my name in it a couple of times.

Favourite Musical: Guys and Dolls. I used to dislike this musical when younger but it grew on me big time in later years.
Last Books I'll Admit To Reading: The Christmas Train by David Baldacci and A Cat Called Norton by Peter Gethers.
Favourite Word:

Verisimilitude (the fact or quality of being verisimilar, the appearance of being true or real; likeness or resemblance, blah, blah, etc.)

Favourite Contradiction In Terms: The word 'minimalism'.
